Holiday Hill Day Camp Mansfield Ct Green Team

Join the green team at Holiday Hill Day Camp in Mansfield CT. Let's create a summer that is "greener" than ever. There are the standby rules of living and working green. Reduce, reuse, recycle, the 3 R's of the environmental movement.

Who will it effect? Let's think about that a minute. It will have an immediate effect on all the campers and staff at camp. By reducing, reusing and recycling they have less cleanup to do and a more beautiful camp and a move toward reducing carbon imprint on the earth.

Pack a lunch that has reusable containers for your sandwich and drink. There is an easy start to less garbage! Car Pool to camp or catch up with out transportation system at a stop near you. Turn the lights off and keep rooms cool naturally. In the heat of the day find a cool activity like reading under a tree.

Get some kid sunny ideas at: www.ctgreenscene.com  see the solar youth section

It is not just our camp a lot of wild life  call our camp home or live in the neighborhood. Keeping the camp environment wildlife friendly and green means our neighbors the birds and animals can live a better life too.
So what else can be done? Hang your towel and suit to sun dry, along with your family laundry. Recycle papers,  compost organic material, conserve electricity and water,

It will be a very green summer and the Holiday Hill Day Camp in Mansfield Blog Elf loves the color green!

Tips To Cool Off With

Tips to Cool Off With

OK The weather advisories are out, the  schools are closing early and the red bulb of the thermometer is rising! Here are some tips to help you beat the heat.

1.) Stop By a cool river and drop your toes in , try Eagleville Dam at Rte 275 on the Mansfield  Coventry town line. Also try a cool walk in Mansfield Hollow State Park - remember no swimming in the Hollow it's a drinking water source.

2.) Play drip drip splash!   You remember duck duck goose? This variation is played with  children ( hey if it's 100 adults should play too) The"it" person walks around players seated on ground in a circle letting a sponge drip drip drip on the players head then Splash! the  new "it" gets the sponge squeezed  out on their head a chase ensues until the first "it " is seated in their space in the circle. Go ahead drip drip drip splash!

3.) The Library will have the AC on and there is a book to suit every persons  reading interests.

4. ) make  juice Popsicles in paper cups and take them out under a leafy tree to enjoy

5.) Sprinkler   need I say more?
